Mayor’s Message: October is Neighborhood Awareness Month in Evesham

Evesham Township has a continued commitment to the community.

As mayor, I’m proud of the efforts of a new initiative beginning in October, known as Neighborhood Awareness Month. The program is designed to protect the residents of Evesham Township as our schedules pick up with school, sports and work. Our goal is to paint 25 miles-per-hour speed limit signs on 100 locations in addition to “Children at Play” signs installed and crosswalks repaired on as many roads as possible, as well as other safety initiatives.

Furthermore, our community-oriented police force will be visiting homes after families return home from school and work to discuss home safety, how to deal with strangers and bike safety among other important topics.

The commitment from the township and the police department is to the resident. Our focus remains on guaranteeing safety to the children of this township and their loved ones.

As your mayor, I am confident these measures will not only create a safer community, but raise awareness to drivers and visitors making their way through our town.

Speeding in neighborhoods where families reside will not be tolerated. Making any children in our township feel unsafe will not be tolerated. Disregarding for “Children at play” signs will not be tolerated.

The Evesham Township Police Department, led by Chief Christopher Chew, has been making strides admired on the national stage.

The use of the body cameras in Evesham Township has contributed to conversations about safety of both our residents and police officers. Additionally, our department increased the number of DUI checkpoints within the Evesham Township limits.

Safety is of utmost importance and remaining diligent against dangerous individuals makes a difference.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Neighborhood Awareness Month as we aim to keep Evesham Township a safe, enjoyable place to live.

Mayor Randy Brown
