Evesham Police arrest man who allegedly shoplifted and assaulted staff at ShopRite

Police say the alleged incident took place on Nov. 4.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Nov. 4 at 2:08 p.m., officers with the Evesham Township Police Department responded to the ShopRite store located at 307 W. Route 70 for a male who allegedly shoplifted merchandise and allegedly assaulted staff while attempting to flee the store.

Upon officer’s arrival, police say the male was detained by store staff and patrons in the front lobby of the store. According to police, an investigation determined that the suspect shoplifted merchandise, and when confronted by loss prevention officers, he threw the merchandise at them and ran back into the store. Police say he then allegedly assaulted two employees prior to being detained.

Arrested:

A male, age 28, of Sicklerville, was charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree providing police with a fictitious name. He was lodged in the Burlington County jail with no bail.
