Sequoia Alternative Program Car Show raises money to aide recovery efforts for recent hurricanes

The show raised more than $2,000 for those affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

The students and staff from the Lenape Regional High School’s District’s Sequoia Alternative Program hosted a car show fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 28, to raise funds to aide in the recovery efforts for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

According to Sequoia Alternative Program Director Ben Lamberson, more than 40 antique, modified and pro-street automobiles competed in several different categories ranging from “ Student’s Choice” to “Best Antique Car or Truck.”

According to Lamberson, the event turned out to be a huge success for the program, with more than $2000 raised for the United Way Disaster Recovery Funds.

Lamberson expressed his pride for the hard work of students and staff for making the event a success.

“Teaching our students the importance of community service is one of the cornerstones of our program, Lamberson said. “Today’s event was an excellent example of the positive impact even a small program like ours can have when we work together to make a difference.”
