The Chinese School of South Jersey, a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization, was established in 1969 to serve the South Jersey community. Its mission is to provide an encouraging environment for both children and adults to learn Chinese educational and cultural programs.

The CSSJ offers various classes on Sunday afternoons, including children (K-12) language, adult language, Chinese painting, Chinese folk dance, Chinese yo-yo, martial arts and floral arrangement. Age appropriate materials are carefully selected to design two tracks of language curriculums for heritage and non-heritage speakers/families. The goal of the heritage language program aims to help the students achieve a level of competence that is equivalent to the freshman level Chinese courses provided at many universities.
