County to offer flu shots this month

The Burlington County Health Department will once again offer free flu vaccines to residents.

The department will hold weekly flu vaccine clinics on Thursdays at various county locations beginning on Thursday, Sept. 19, including Palmyra, Evesham, Burlington City, Burlington Township, Florence, Shamong, Tabernacle, Bordentown, Medford and Westampton.

All flu shot clinics will be walk-up and open to anyone six months or older. Donations will be accepted.

In addition to the flu shot, the health department also encourages residents six months and older to get the updated COVID vaccine. Approved by the FDA last month, it is now available at most pharmacies, doctor’s offices and federally qualified health centers. The updated vaccine more closely targets current COVID variants, and the CDC says they provide the best protection against serious illness.

The health department will also offer the vaccine to uninsured and underinsured adults, along with young children between six months and 11 years old. Details will be announced once a schedule is finalized.
