Three incumbents and eight challengers have filed petitions to run this November.

Three incumbents, J. Barry Dickinson, Kathy Judge and Ken Tomlinson Jr., have filed to run for re-election. Judge has served on the board since 2008, Dickinson has served two terms on the board, and Tomlinson has served one term. All three incumbents filed individual petitions to run in this year’s election.

Due to a change in state law, board of education candidates can file joint petitions and be bracketed together for the first time this year. Two joint petitions were submitted for the Cherry Hill Board of Education election. Challengers Sally Tong, Laurie Neary and David Rossi filed to run under the designation “Accountability, Collaboration, Transparency.” Neary and Rossi are running for the board for the first time, while Tong is on the ballot for the second straight year after first running for the board in 2017.

Three more challengers, Sanjay Sharma, Brunia Pilet and Fredrick Dande, are running under the designation “Kids Education First.” Sharma and Pilet are running for the first time, while Dande has entered the board of education election for the fourth straight year.

Two more challengers have filed individual petitions to run — Benjamin Shore and Rosy Arroyo. Both candidates will be running for the first time.

The list of candidates was considered unofficial until the deadline for filing objections with the Camden County Clerk has passed. The date for the drawing of ballot position is Aug. 13. Sept. 7 is the final day a candidate can withdraw from the election. This year’s election will take place with the general election on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6.
