Katz JCC releases statement following JCC Camps at Medford bus accident

Five school buses were involved in an accident in Medford Lakes on Monday afternoon.

The Katz JCC in Cherry Hill has released a statement after five JCC Camps at Medford buses crashed shortly after departing from the camp on Monday afternoon.

According to Medford Township Police, the accident occurred on Tuckerton Road in Medford Lakes near Lenape Trail. Five school buses were involved in the accident, all of which were transporting children home for the day. A total of 21 children, one staff member and two bus drivers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

“Emergency personnel arrived within minutes to assess the well-being of and attend to all campers, staff and bus drivers,” the JCC’s statement read. “22 campers and staff were transported to area hospitals.”

“We thank our partners in law enforcement, emergency medical services and the JCC staff for their work in ensuring the safety of our campers and staff were immediately attended to,” the statement concluded.

Medford police say the cause of the accident remains under investigation. The buses involved in the crash were owned and operated by the Safety Bus Company of Pennsauken.
