Bowling for Bears is a bowling fundraising event that raises money to purchase teddy bears as holiday gifts for children in need.

Over the past six holiday seasons, Bowling for Bears has raised approximately $63,000 and provided over 8,000 children at hospital, shelters, foster homes and other facilities that care for children with new Build-A-Bear teddy bears as holiday gifts.

Build-A-Bear Workshop supports Bowling for Bears by providing all the bears at a discount, shipping the bears for free, and donating bears.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of the 2011 Bowling for Bears will once again be used to purchase Build-A-Bears for local children in need. Each $8 raised pays for one new bear. Bowlers and their sponsors donate money in increments of $8.

On Dec. 4, the bowling alley is only open to those participating in Bowling for Bears.

Through corporate donations, bowling and food are free, and the first 150 bowlers will also get a free Bowling for Bears t-shirt. The silent auction at the event will feature items donated by local stores, restaurants and sports teams.

Bowling for Bears is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation, so donations are tax deductible. Cash and checks payable to Bowling for Bears are accepted or donations may be made online at our website with a credit card.

For more information on the event, visit www.bowlingforbears.org.

Participants can bring the completed sponsor sheet with donations to the event on Dec. 4.

Those unable to come but who would still like to help, may donate online or mail checks payable to Bowling for Bears to:
