Mayor Chuck Cahn made his first town council meeting appearance last week, addressing the public by saying he and his team are ready and excited for the challenges ahead.
Those sitting up front with the mayor and the seven-member council did look distinctively different, as Cahn presented two new members of his senior administration.
Cahn named Lenore Rosner his business administrator, a township resident who has previously worked for Cherry Hill.
Cahn said she brings more than 25 years of experience in finance and operations management. In 2003, Rosner began serving as chief of operations at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. Prior to that, she worked as director of purchasing and director of pperations for Cherry Hill, a position she started in 1995.
Robert Wright also took his seat at the meeting as solicitor, coming to Cherry Hill after five years at the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. He also spent five years as a private lawyer in South Jersey.
“I look forward to working closely with Robert as we navigate the variety of issues pertaining to policy regulations and additional matters,” Cahn said.
Paul Stridick, who has served more than 30 years in the fields of architecture, planning and development, was named by Cahn to head up the department of community development.
Prior to coming to Cherry Hill, Stridick served as director of housing and community resources for the state. Cahn said Stridick has also spent time serving his hometown, Merchantville, by participating on the borough’s planning and zoning boards, town council and various community-based non-profits.
“Paul will draw on his prior experiences to assist in the identification and implementation of economic development and community revitalization throughout the township,” Cahn said.
Cahn also named Jason Springer as the township’s new director of communications. Springer has previously worked as communications director for the Democratic State Committee.
Cahn said he hopes to bridge the gap between town hall and the township’s residents through outreach, communications and social media.
“Jason’s knowledge and experience will prove to be an asset to this administration,” Cahn said. “He will draw on his social media and communications background, allowing our township to expand its outreach by utilizing technology to enhance the distribution of information.”
Cahn said his new team represents a mix of public- and private-sector experience, which, he said, was imperative in moving forward as mayor.
“My goals from the outset are to look at the township’s internal operations to make sure we are functioning as efficiently and effectively as possible. Each of these men and women have demonstrated that they have the tools to move forward quickly in that regard,” Cahn said. “With Lenore leading the way, the business of Cherry Hill will be in good hands.”
