New Jersey Conservation Foundation and Urban Trekkers Boatworks will co-sponsor a guided Cooper River Paddle on Saturday, June 22, from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Boaters will launch from the Kaighn Avenue Dam in Pennsauken and explore the hidden nooks and crannies along this surprisingly wild stretch of river. Cormorants, kingfishers, green herons and even bald eagles may be spotted!
The paddle will be led by Maria Tranguch, New Jersey Conservation Foundation’s regional manager in Camden.
Participants can bring their own kayaks or canoes, or rent a canoe. Life jackets are required.
Participants must be in good physical shape and able to carry their boat for portage around a dam.
The cost of the paddle is $10 per person for those who supply their own boat, and $25 per person for those who rent a canoe.
