Camden County to take traffic sign inventory this week

The Camden County Department of Public Works is in the process of inventorying traffic signs on county roadways this week. The county has contracted with Maser consulting to perform the traffic sign inventory Wednesday through Friday of this week. They will be taking still photographs of signage throughout the area.

“I consider the maintenance of our county roadways to be a top priority of the Freeholder Board, and that includes improving the placement and readability of our traffic signs,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Residents and motorists may see this inventory being conducted in their neighborhoods or during their commutes.”

The consultant is driving a van called a Mobile Asset Collection vehicle equipped with cameras and GPS units that capture roadway images and data.

“The Camden County Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining 1,200 lane miles of county roadway and 50 bridges,” Leonard said. “We are continually making roadway upgrades and identifying areas in need of future improvement.”

To report concerns on Camden County roadways, call the Public Works Hotline at (856) 566–2920 or visit www.camdencounty.com.
