Church hosts inaugural apple festival

First Methodist Church of Moorestown will host its inaugural apple festival on Friday, Sept. 20, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The event is for all ages and will include seasonal activities, a variety of apple products, and kids’ crafts and games. Rain date is the following day.

“First Methodist Church is passionate about being a home where people of all ages and walks of life can find a place to belong in a community that cares about them.,” said Rev. Dr. Gina Hendrickson. “The apple festival is a way for us to celebrate the fall season with the Moorestown community by creating a safe, fun and friendly space for families to gather together and connect with their neighbors.

“We’re excited to continue to grow this festival year over year.”

The festival’s entry fee includes one apple dessert and ice cream; kids’ activities; live music; and a “selfie” harvest-themed photo station. Additional items for purchase will include apple slushies; picnic food; pre-ordered apples by the bag; and handcrafted items, among others.

Parking for the festival will be provided at the Camden Avenue and Kings Highway entrances to the property.

“There’s going to be so much to do for kids and adults,” said event co-chair Lisa Kulp. “You can just come and eat dinner, because we’re going to have burgers and (hot) dogs and pretzels, and you can come and eat dinner and just sit and listen to music. Or you can come and bring the kids, play all the games …

“It’s going to be fun.”

To sponsor or donate items, contact [email protected] or call (856) 235-0450 by Sunday, Sept. 1. Event proceeds benefit the ministries, missions and community programs of the church. Those interested in volunteering for the festival can visit www.fmcmoorestown.com/applefest.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new people, and I hope we have a lot of our neighbors come out,” Kulp enthused. “Our music is going to be right here in the courtyard and hopefully – because (we’ll) have so many different kinds of music – people will just want to chill and hang out …”
