In this presentation, Dr. Nuwan Jayawickreme (Senior Staff Psychologist, Center for Emotional Health & Professor of Psychology, School of Health Sciences, Touro University, New York, NY) will unpack the nature of trauma:

  • What is a traumatic event?
  • What are the psychological and biological consequences of experiencing trauma?
  • Have our conceptualizations of what a trauma is changed over time?
  • Are there changes in how we live that make us more or less susceptible to experiencing trauma and its effects?

The event will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Conference Center, Lower Level and is sponsored by the Friends of CHPL and the Jewish Community Foundation for their generous support of this series.
