Delran Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 is a family-friendly event where residents can come and enjoy a summer night out.
Since it began in 2018, the event at the township’s Community Park has grown year after year, drawing an average of 3,000 to 4,000 people. This year’s version will begin at 6 p.m.
“We don’t mess around,” council President Tyler Burrell said, noting the jam-packed bells and whistles that the event brings. “It’s the biggest event that the township puts together.”
And that’s what the township’s Recreation Advisory Committee and Burrell strive for by investing year after year to stage a celebration that is town wide, with the mission of building community morale and camaraderie in the township’s neighborhoods and the police department, according to the township website.
Bringing the community together in a positive light enables residents to enhance relationships not only with law enforcement but neighbors and friends. Night Out is a national initiative that has been held annually in towns across the country since 1984.
Headlining the Delran event this year will be the band Don’t Call Me Francis. With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, the group is one of the most requested in the Philadelphia tri-state area and beyond.
Delran Night Out will have plenty of activities for all ages until closing at 10 p.m. Delran police, EMS and fire departments will be joined by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service, New Jersey Health and Human Services, the county sheriff’s department and prosecutor’s office, the Green Team and the state Department of Corrections.
The evening is also on the short list for an appearance by state police. Entertainment will include speed pitch, face painting, inflatables, tattoo artists, balloon and caricature artists, a video game truck and a photo booth.
