County hosts third annual film festival

Film lovers can look forward to this month’s return of the Burlington County Juried Short Film Festival and its lineup of narratives and documentaries.

Now in its third year, the two-day festival will screen 23 short films on Friday and Saturday. It is organized by the Burlington County Parks Division, with support from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts to provide a showcase for independent filmmakers.

This year’s films were selected from more than 100 submissions of local filmmakers, as well as those across the country, Europe and Africa.

The festival’s first night of screenings will be held at 7 p.m. at the Lyceum Hall Center for the Arts in Burlington City, followed by Saturday’s screenings at the Mount Holly Mason’s Lodge No. 14, also at 7 p.m. The county will announce the festival’s winners and runners ups for best animation, documentary, narrative comedy and narrative drama during the screenings, as chosen by professional filmmakers and educators.

Admission to the festival is free both nights. Each film is under 30 minutes long, and light refreshments will be served. For a list of films at the festival, visit www.co.burlington.nj.us.
