Voters in Washington Township went to the polls June 4 to choose candidates to run for an array of elected state and municipal offices in the Democratic and Republican party primaries.
Two seats were available for township council and one seat was open for mayor.
Mayor Laurie J. Burns, who sought the Democratic Party’s nomination to run for her first elected term, received 2,796 votes in the uncontested Democratic Party primary. There are 26 write-in votes.
She is expected to face Councilman Anthony Dellapia, who currently has 2,050 votes, over candidate Giancarlo Dorazio, who has received 449 votes, in the contested Republican Primary. There are seven write-in votes.
Paul J. Esposito and David J. Tomczak ran for the council seats in the uncontested Democratic Primary. They have received 2,769 votes and 2,681 votes, respectively.
Councilman Richard Bennett has received 2,333 votes and Joseph J. Harris has received 2,238 votes over Frank Fish who has received 268 votes in the contested Republican Primary.
The results listed here reflect what has been posted online by the Gloucester County Clerk’s Office as of June 5. The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.
The general election is Nov. 5 election.
