A Haddon Township man has been arrested and charged in reference to an arson in Haddonfield and a stalking-related vandalism in Medford Township, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, Haddonfield Police Chief Jason Cutler, and Medford Township Police Chief Arthur Waterman.
Michael McNeely, 42, was charged on May 17, 2024 with second-degree Aggravated Arson and third-degree Criminal Mischief in reference to an October 2023 motor vehicle fire in Haddonfield. He was also charged with fourth-degree Criminal Mischief for a June 2019 incident in Haddonfield. Additionally, McNeely was charged with fourth-degree Criminal Mischief and Harassment (a petty disorderly persons offense) for a November 2023 vandalism in Medford Township, Burlington County. He was also charged with fourth-degree Stalking on diverse dates from 2019 to 2023 in Haddonfield and Medford Township.
On October 21, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers from the Haddonfield Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Concord Circle for a report for a vehicle on fire. Surveillance video captured a suspect pouring gasoline onto the vehicle and lighting it on fire.
Previously, officers responded to two other motor vehicle fires that occurred at the same residence on the 1000 block of Concord Circle on October 18, 2017 and June 25, 2021. Those fires remain under investigation. Additionally, officers responded to the same residence on June 20, 2019 for a report of a concrete block thrown through a window.
On November 9, 2023, officers from the Medford Township Police Department responded to the unit block of High Point Drive for a report of a bench that was vandalized by spray paint.
During the investigation, detectives utilized digital evidence to identify McNeely as the suspect.
McNeely was arrested in Haddonfield on May 17, 2024 by detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Haddonfield Police Department, and Medford Township Police Department. He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a future court date.
