High school sports roundup: Cherry Hill West boys’ soccer to play for SJ Coaches Tournament title on Saturday

Cherry Hill West boys’ soccer will try to win its first South Jersey Coaches Tournament title in nearly two decades on Saturday after the Lions defeated Rancocas Valley High School, 3–2, in overtime on Wednesday.
Elliot Cumba scored the game-winning goal for the Lions in the win. Zach Bruno and Jason Kahan were the Lions’ other goal scorers in the game.
Cherry Hill West will play Williamstown High School in Saturday’s final. Williamstown defeated Shawnee, 1–0, in the tournament’s other semifinal on Wednesday.
Cherry Hill East girls’ volleyball takes down Eastern
The Cherry Hill East girls’ volleyball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon at Eastern Regional High School, as the Cougars defeated the Vikings in straight sets, 2–0.
Sarah Pintel led the Cougars with 10 kills. Megan O’Rourke registered seven digs and 20 assists. Kelly Babitz and Alana Cohen each led the team with two aces.
Cherry Hill East is expected to be one of the top teams in the NJSIAA Group IV Tournament, which begins next week. Cherry Hill East is the №4 seed in the tournament and will open the playoffs with a home game next Wednesday.
Cherry Hill East girls’ soccer shuts out Bishop Eustace
The Cherry Hill East girls’ soccer team earned its third win of the season with a solid, 2–0 victory over Bishop Eustace.
Sara Messinger and Natalie Hay scored one goal each for the Cougars in the win. Senior Jordan Madrid also played well, registering an assist. Sam Bourne earned the shutout with 13 saves.
Cherry Hill East will visit Seneca High School in their next game on Friday at 4 p.m.
Boys’ soccer finishes season with draw against Bishop Eustace
Cherry Hill East boys’ soccer’s final game finished in a tight, 3–3 draw with Bishop Eustace.
Andrew Lochbihler, Robert Sparrow and Jose Andino all scored for the Cougars in the win. Each team scored two goals in the first half and one goal in the second half.
Cherry Hill East boys’ soccer finishes the 2016 season with a record of 4–11–2.
