In order for government to be “by the people,” we must exercise our right to vote. It is not
only an important individual liberty; it is the foundation of free government.
The right to vote was initially established in 1789. In 1870, the 15th amendment guaranteed the right to vote to all men who were 21 or older, regardless of race or ethnic background. In 1920, the 19th amendment gave women 21 or older the right to vote.
Finally, in 1971, the 26th amendment lowered the voting age across the nation to 18.
Casting your ballot has been made even easier through the Vote by Mail (VBM) Program. If
you wish to take advantage of this program, applications can be obtained by visiting the
Voorhees Township Clerk’s Office at 2400 Voorhees Town Center or online at
camdencounty.com/vbm.
Primary election day is on June 4 and voters will be casting ballots to elect the president, one state senator, one House of Representatives member, Camden County sheriff and clerk, three county commissioners (formerly Freeholders), 10 male and 10 female Republican County Committee members and two Voorhees Township Committee members.
The general election is on Nov. 5. The deadline to request a VBM ballot through the mail is May 28, unless you apply in person during the county’s clerk’s office hours, up to 3 p.m. the day prior to the primary election. For a mail ballot to be counted, it must be postmarked no later than election day on June 4 and received by the Board of Elections by June 10.
A mail ballot can be placed into a ballot drop box by the close of polls at 8 p.m. on election day. To confirm your ballot was received, visit trackmyballot.nj.gov.
Another option for casting your vote is early voting, which can be done at the Lions Lake Facility, 101 Dutchtown Road, from May 29 through June 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on June 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone who was sent a VBM ballot is ineligible to cast that ballot in person during early voting. They can cast a provisional ballots that will be counted once all mail ballots arrive and it is verified a voter did not cast two ballots.
Polls will be open on June 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Voorhees. Voting locations can be found at voorheesnj.com.

Residents of Districts 5 & 12 – Town Hall Courtroom

Residents of Districts 3, 10, 13 & 15 – Lions Lake
Residents of Districts 6, 9, & 14 – School Admin Building
Residents of Districts 11 & 16 – Hampton Inn
Any voter who is not listed on the voting rolls or is denied the right to vote, and who believes he or she is properly registered, can vote by way of a provisional ballot which will be reviewed by the Board of Elections to determine voter eligibility.
