Shawnee High earns reaccreditation

Shawnee High School has earned Middle States Reaccreditation, according to Principal Matthew Campbell.

The accreditation is a multifaceted evaluation process, according to the Middle States Association.

“Schools and school systems voluntarily rely on it to demonstrate they are meeting a defined set of research-based performance standards,” the association states. “The accreditation process begins when the school or system undertakes a comprehensive
self-study, collecting input from school leaders, teachers, parents and students.

“After the self-study, a team of professional peer educators conducts a peer review.”

Shawnee Assistant Principal Nik Tama was the school administrator overseeing the entire reaccreditation process at Shawnee, which has been earning accreditation since 1975.

“We take great pride in our school, and it was rewarding to work with colleagues throughout our district and members of our school community to highlight our programs; practices; and, most importantly, the students of Shawnee,” Tama said.

The Middle States Association is based in Philadelphia and has spent more than 130 years helping school leaders establish and reach their goals, develop strategic plans, promote
staff development and advance student achievement.
