In another all-Cherry Hill matchup, Cherry Hill West edged Cherry Hill East in the consolation round of the Camden County Softball Tournament.
A big second quarter helped Cherry Hill High School East boys lacrosse earn its first win of 2017 on Saturday as they defeated cross-town rival Cherry Hill High School West, 19–3.
The Cougars scored eight goals in the scored quarter to build a 12–0 halftime lead. Justin Brown led Cherry Hill East with six goals. Eric Sherman had three goals and six assists in the game.
Cherry Hill East will be back in action at home on Wednesday against West Deptford High School, while Cherry Hill West hosts Seneca High School on Monday afternoon at 4Â p.m.
Cherry Hill West softball edges Cherry Hill East in extra innings
In a wild, high-scoring game in the consolation round of the Camden County Softball Tournament, Cherry Hill West defeated Cherry Hill East, 12–11, in eight innings. The Lions won in extra innings with a four-run eighth inning after the Cougars scored three runs in the top of the eighth.
Foster Schaffer led Cherry Hill West, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Rachel Kubrak went 3-for-5 with a triple two RBIs. Kerriann Dignan went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Cherry Hill East was led by Rachel Levine, who went 1-for-4 with four RBIs.
Both teams lost in the opening round of the tournament, with the Lions falling to eventual tournament champion Sterling High School and the Cougars losing to Paul VI High School.
The Lions will visit Seneca High School on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m., while Cherry Hill East will try to win their first game on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. when they visit Lenape High School.
