Medford man dies in two-car crash

An 84-year-old Medford man succumbed to his injuries after a two-car crash at the intersection of Tuckerton Road and Marquette Drive on Feb. 22, according to the Medford Township Police Department.

Police, the Medford Fire Department and emergency medical services (EMS) responded to the intersection at 5:29 p.m.

The on-scene investigation determined the man was traveling west on Tuckerton Road in a 2018 Nissan Maxima. While in the process of making a left turn onto Marquette Drive, his vehicle was impacted on the passenger side by a 2016 Ford F150 traveling east on Tuckerton Road operated by a 40-year-old Shamong Township man, police said.

As a result of the impact, Rodger Carney was transported by helicopter to Cooper Hospital for head trauma and other significant injuries where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Shamong Township man sustained an abrasion to his hand and was released.

The motor vehicle crash is currently under investigation by the Medford Township Police Department Traffic Unit.
