Possession of fake IDs, credit cards

A Basking Ridge man wanted out of Bergen County was apprehended after a motor vehicle stop at the Greentree Road Wawa on Jan. 4, according to the Washington Township Police Department.

Captain Mike Conti made the vehicle stop at 3:30 p.m. The Basking Ridge man was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of false IDs.

A search of the vehicle yielded a bag containing multiple additional fake IDs and fraudulent credit cards. A second occupant of the vehicle identified, a Brooklyn, N.Y. man, was also arrested and charged with possession of false fraudulent documents and fraudulent use of credit cards, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with addition information or knowledge of this case are asked to contact the Washington Township Department’s Detective Bureau at (856) 589-0330.

Catalytic converter thefts

The Washington Township Police Department is seeking information on photographs they released of an alleged vehicle seen during a rash of catalytic converter thefts.

The vehicle was involved in catalytic converter thefts in the Hunt Club on Nov. 30 and additional catalytic converter thefts on Dec. 23 in the Fishpond Road and Hunters Chase areas.

Ring Camera footage from a victim’s residence, captured the pictured vehicle (2021-2023 Gold/Orange Acura TLX Type S with stolen license plates). The Acura drove up to their residence and parked curbside. Two unknown passengers exited the suspect’s vehicle. Once outside the car, they cut the converter from the victim’s vehicle, re-entered the Acura and fled the area.

The thefts occurred in the early morning hours between 3-5:30 a.m. Be on the lookout and please report any suspicious persons, vehicles or noise immediately to (856) 256-1212.
