Seventeen Cherry Hill community leaders spent more than an hour discussing a wide variety of topics at the Carman Tilelli Community Center last Tuesday. The leaders were part of the Cherry Hill Human Relations Committee, a group formed to work with township officials to build relations and dialogue to promote respect for the rights of all residents. Tuesday night’s event was the committee’s first meeting with the public.
Cherry Hill East student honored for dedication to water polo, classroom
Cherry Hill East sophomore Rob Thompson is a busy high school student. In addition to school and swimming, Thompson also plays water polo for the Tiger Aquatics Water Polo Club, a team based out of Princeton University. Thompson’s dedication to water polo and his solid grades helped him become one of the American Water Polo Association’s 2017 Scholar Athlete Award winners.
Cherry Hill Township Council approves municipal budget with tax cut
Cherry Hill Township residents will be paying less money in municipal taxes than they did last year. Cherry Hill Township Council adopted the township’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget at its meeting on Monday night. The budget includes a decrease of about $22 in municipal taxes for the average assessed home of $223,500. The municipal purpose tax bill for the average home will be approximately $1,200.
Utility work to result in lane closures on Cuthbert Boulevard
Motorists who travel along Cuthbert Boulevard in Cherry Hill Township may run into some delays beginning on Oct. 9. PSE&G will be conducting inspections and installing electric utility cable along the northbound side of Cuthbert Boulevard. A lane may be closed during the project from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. The work is expected to last no more than a month.
Cherry Hill PBA 176 hosting Veterans Appreciation Dinner on Oct. 7
Veterans and active military are invited to attend the Cherry Hill PBA 176’s free Veterans Appreciation Dinner on Oct. 7 at American Legion Post 372 beginning at 6 p.m. The event will include catering from Mission BBQ, with dinner, dessert coffee sod and water.
