Clearview Junior Wrestling to host golf tournament

Proceeds to help Clearview program fund equipment and upkeep

Clearview Junior Wrestling will host a golf tournament in October at Westwood Golf Club in West Deptford to raise money for and heighten familiarity with the   program.

“It’s our biggest and most exciting event this season,” wrestling secretary Megan Battaglia said of the Monday, Oct. 23, event. “We’re looking to raise as much money as possible to help the program. The money we raise goes to upkeep and scholarship opportunities.”

The event is open to anyone in or outside the wrestling program. Admission for single golfers is $165 and $600 for a group of four. Registration is available   online at Cheddar Up.

Check-in for the golf fundraiser will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a putting contest at 11 a.m. A shotgun start will take place at noon, and a 4:30 p.m. buffet dinner will include awards and prizes.

Local businesses can participate by purchasing one of three sponsorship tiers for businesses: a hole sponsorship, including a yard sign on the tee box at one hole;  a gold sponsor that will include the same, plus the names of businesses on sponsorship T-shirts; and a platinum sponsor that will both earn and present an award at the buffet, have its business listed inside the school wrestling room, and see its logo on golfer towels.

A hole sponsorship costs $300, a gold is $1,000 and a platinum goes for $3,500.

“Sponsorship opportunities provide businesses a way to get their name out there,” said Battaglia.

While still in its early stages, the wrestling program plans to get alumni involved  in the golf event, as well as major area sports teams like the Philadelphia Eagles.

“We’re hoping it gets people excited about it and gets our name out there,” Battaglia noted. “This all goes out to the kids in order to provide them with the best experience possible. We pride ourselves on giving back, and we’ve been trying to do so much more.”
