The hit and run investigation that led to the arrest of a 72-year-old Egg Harbor man was a community effort, according to the Medford Township Police Department.
The incident occurred at 11:28 on July 27. Police responded to the parking lot of 666 Stokes Road for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Police requested assistance to locate the vehicle by releasing a photo of the involved vehicle – a newer model Kia Sedona – that allegedly left the scene upon striking the female pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries including a fractured or dislocated hip and ankle.
She was transported to Cooper Trauma Center by helicopter for additional medical treatment.
As a result of multiple contacts with the community, the Medford Township Police department was able to complete a thorough investigation leading to the arrest of the driver.
The Egg Harbor man was charge with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury and failure to render aid to an injured victim as well as several motor vehicle offenses, police said.
Police thanked the community for their assistance in identifying the vehicle and helping to bring the investigation to a successful outcome.
