M’kor Shalom hosting intolerance forum on Nov. 29

The forum will take place at Congregation M’kor Shalom beginning at 7 p.m.

The social action committee of Congregation M’kor Shalom invites the community to participate in a stimulating forum entitled “Outrage Fatigue 101: Strategies for Dealing with Intolerance in 2017,” to be held on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at Congregation M’kor Shalom, 850 Evesham Road in Cherry Hill.

Hatred and intolerance that has erupted in this country over the past year has many feeling stressed, helpless and full of despair, whether we ourselves have been the victims of intolerance, or have seen it perpetrated on others. We need to arm ourselves with advocacy skills for fighting intolerance, and coping skills for staying calm and centered in the midst of all this negative energy.

The speakers at this forum will attempt to teach a little of both. They include: Rabbi Jennifer Frenkel, senior rabbi of Congregation M’kor Shalom; Dr. Dan Gottlieb, former host of WHYY’s “Voices in the Family”; Andrew Hanauer, director, One America Movement; and Afia Yunus, immigration attorney, founder and principal of Yunus Law. The event is geared towards adults and children age 15 and older, and is free and open to the community.

Guests are asked to RSVP to the synagogue at [email protected] or contact the synagogue at (856) 424–4220.
