Intended as a thank you to the community’s seniors for their work, the Harrison Township Recreation Commission will host Monte Carlo Night at Ewan Fire House on Thursday, Sept. 28.

“We decided to do a special … event for seniors since they gave so much to Harrison Township in the past, and we felt like this was a good way to give back,” said Recreation Coordinator Sharon Chew of the game night, which is open only to Harrision seniors.

“We’re giving them a little free fun night to say thank you.”

Ewan Fire Company firefighters are also providing the venue as a thank you of their own.

Monte Carlo Night will feature several casino games, like blackjack and poker, with fake money. According to Chew, the games will be officiated by retired casino dealers hired for the event who will also provide game instruction.

Dinner will also be provided, courtesy of a local diner, and there will be music.

The event is a part of the recreation commission’s active adults program, which provides activities and events for residents 55 and up. They include a monthly lunch social, exercise classes, educational programs and bus trips.

Monte Carlo Night is free, but registration is required either online at SignUpGenius or through active adults coordinator Debbie Wagner at (856) 478-0824.

Tickets are on a first come, first served basis as there is a maximum capacity of 75 people at the firehouse. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. The firehouse hall is located at 312 Ewan Road in Mullica Hill. Guests must provide their own transportation.
