Burlington County primary voters have multiple ways to cast their ballot

Residents have the option to either vote early, vote-by-mail or vote on Election Day

Burlington County Elections officials are reminding voters who plan to participate in the June 6 New Jersey Primary Election that they have the option of voting early with a machine. The three-day early voting period kicked off today and will continue through the weekend at seven early voting sites in Burlington County.

Vote-by-Mail ballots have also been sent to registered Democratic and Republican voters who requested them and can be hand-delivered directly to the Burlington County Elections Office or sent by mail or submitted via secure drop boxes.

“One of the most fundamental rights in America and all democracies is the right to vote, and Burlington County residents have several ways to exercise that right,” said Joseph Dugan, chairman of the Burlington County Elections Board. “We want voters to know that however they choose to cast their ballot – by mail or with a machine – the system is secure, and all votes will be counted.”

Early voting

The early voting period for the Primary Election runs Friday, June 2; Saturday, June 3; and Sunday, June 4. During those three days, a registered voter from any of Burlington County’s 40 municipalities can got to any one of the seven early voting locations. This is different than Election Day when voters go to their assigned polling spots in their town of residence.

All seven sites are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The early voting sites are located at the following locations:

  1. Chesterfield at the Chesterfield Township Municipal Building, 295 Bordentown-Chesterfield Road;
  2. Evesham at the Gibson House Community Center, 535 East Main Street, Marlton;
  3. Medford at the Medford Town Hall, 49 Union Street;
  4. Mount Laurel at Rowan College at Burlington County Student Success Center, 1500 College Circle;
  5. Pemberton Township at the Pemberton Community Library, 16 Broadway, Browns Mills;
  6. Shamong at the Lenape Regional Administrative Building, 93 Willow Grove Road;
  7. Willingboro at the Willingboro Public Library, 220 Campbell Drive.

Any voter registered as Democrat, Republican or unaffiliated is eligible to vote at an early voting location. However, unaffiliated voters will be required to declare a party to vote in either the Democrat or Republican primaries.

Registered voters who have already requested or received a Vote-by-Mail ballot are also not eligible to vote with a machine during the early voting machine or on Election Day. Those that do show up will be given the option of voting with a paper provisional ballot.

Vote-by-Mail

Vote-by-Mail ballots have been sent to registered Democrat and Republican voters who requested them for all elections. All other registered voters on the Vote-by-Mail list received notices reminding them of the primary election and the requirement that they declare a party to vote.

Voters can still request a Vote-by-Mail ballot in-person at the Burlington County Clerk’s Office at 50 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly.

Completed Vote-by-Mail ballots can be submitted through the U.S. Post Office or placed in one of 28 secure drop boxes located throughout the county. For all Burlington County drop box locations, visit https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-secure-drop-boxes.shtml.

Voters may also hand deliver completed Vote-by-Mail ballots to the Burlington County Board of Elections Office at 50 Rancocas Road, Mount Holly. There is also a drop box located immediately outside the building.

All Vote-by-Mail ballots must be postmarked or submitted to the Board of Elections or placed in a drop box before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6.
