Charlie Miracola looks back at more than three decades of volunteering at Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League
For 33 years, Charlie Miracola was a familiar face at Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League. The long-time volunteer and president for 17 years was every thing from a coach to an umpire. Miracola recently decided to step down as president to spend more time with his family. Shortly after making this decision, Miracola spoke with The Sun about his time at Cherry Hill Atlantic.
Cherry Hill West freshman raising awareness about drug addiction through video
Cherry Hill West freshman Victoria Burnside has personally seen how drug addiction can impact one’s life. Burnside’s uncle, Salvatore Marchese, died from a drug overdose in 2010. Burnside has since taken up the cause of raising awareness about addiction. She recently won first place in The Herren Project Project Purple’s new video contest. Burnside worked with members of the Cherry Hill West community on the piece.
Cherry Hill Police searching for suspect following bank robbery
Cherry Hill Police and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are hoping to find a man who robbed the Fulton Bank on North Kings Highway in Cherry Hill last Wednesday. Police say the suspect entered the bank at about 4 p.m., passed a demand note to the teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Cherry Hill Police.
Zodiac animals make their way to Joseph D. Sharp Elementary School
An idea, 1,500 Legos and the hard work of some Cherry Hill students resulted in the creation of 12 Chinese animal zodiac figures inside Joseph D. Sharp Elementary School. Gary Yu from Rosa International Middle School, Joshua Lin from Richard Stockton Elementary School and a group of students from Sharp Elementary created all 12 animals and placed them in an exhibit case inside the school.
Klondike Derby draws largest attendance in years
Cherry Hill Boys Scout troops were among the 18 units who competed in the annual Klondike Derby at Pine Hill Scout Reservation last weekend. This year’s annual derby drew more than 230 Scouts from across South Jersey — the largest attendance the Boy Scouts of America’s White Horse District has seen in recent years. The derby tests the Boy Scouts on many of their skills.
