Jane Fearn-Zimmer has joined Flaster Greenberg PC as a shareholder in the business and corporate department.
Seasoned elder law attorney Jane M. Fearn-Zimmer has joined Flaster Greenberg PC as a shareholder in the business and corporate department, which encompasses the elder law, special needs planning, trusts and estates and tax practice areas. Fearn-Zimmer, who will work primarily in the firm’s Cherry Hill office, dedicates her practice to serving clients in the areas of elder and disability law, special needs planning, asset protection, tax and estate planning and estate administration. Prior to joining the firm, Fearn-Zimmer practiced elder law and special needs planning with the Rothkoff Law Group. She is also currently serving as theeEditor of the Elder Law Report, including Special Needs Planning, a subscription based publication of WoltersKluwers, designed to update both experienced and aspiring elder and disability law attorneys in current developments and to provide them with new practice tips.

For over 12 years, Fearn-Zimmer has helped countless families find the best care for an aging or disabled parent or loved one and a way to pay for that care, frequently with public benefits such as Medicaid, while preserving assets and income so that the healthy spouse can remain at home. In addition to assisting clients with planning and applying for public benefits, Fearn-Zimmer uses traditional elder law tools such as general durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, guardianships, special needs trusts and Medicare set aside arrangements where appropriate. She also brings an exceptionally broad perspective to her work due to her strong litigation background. She was a former federal judicial clerk to John S. Unpingo, chief judge of the District Court of Guam, where she served on the civil and criminal justice reform act committees for the District of Guam.
Known for her dedication to helping others, Fearn-Zimmer guides families of the elderly and disabled through the nursing home admissions process and through the maze of qualifying for public benefits programs to fund long-term care, such as Medicaid, SSI and veteran’s benefits. She also assists the elderly and the disabled and their loved ones in tax and estate and asset protection, as well as assisting and representing clients at Medicaid fair hearings.
Admitted to practice law in New Jersey, Fearn-Zimmer is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Burlington, Gloucester and Hunterdon County bar associations and is presently serving as the chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Elder and Disability Law section.
Fearn-Zimmer earned her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law — Camden, with honors, in 1991 and received her L.L.M. in taxation with distinction from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2004.
