Annual trunk or treat celebrates the fall season

Event was put on hold for two years because of COVID

Deputy Mayor Ernest McGill, Mayor Stephanie Kravil, and committee members Albert Segrest, Ryan Horner and Paul Conda were on hand for the township’s trunk or treat in 2019.

The township will host its annual trunk or treat Saturday at Memorial Park on Lenola Road.

“The Parks and Recreation Committee has been coordinating this event since 2015,” Township Administrator Eric Schubiger said. Like many other community events, trunk or treat was canceled for two years because of COVID.

“The community is looking forward to this year’s event more than ever since it was canceled in both 2020 and 2021 …” Schubiger added.

The event encourages families to decorate their cars for $10 per vehicle, and each family must provide candy for 500 children to hand out. Children 12 and under can participate at a cost of $5 per child. Cars may be set up before the event between the hours of 3 and 5:30 p.m.; regular hours are 6 to 8 p.m.

Children will be able to walk around the park dressed in Halloween costumes to collect candy. They can see all of the decorated cars and interact with other township residents. Schubiger noted that residents who attend trunk or treat will have a chance to win prizes.

“Gift cards will be awarded to participating cars and children for a variety of categories, including scariest, funniest and most creative costumes,” added Schubiger, who said he enjoys going to the event every year.

“Cinnaminson’s trunk or treat event is a great opportunity for families to celebrate the fall season in a fun and safe environment,” he noted.

The event is Cinnaminson residents only, and participating cars can include up to two children per household. For more information, email Parks and Recreation Coordinator Christine Turner at [email protected].
