Township council will host the Fund for Deptford Families fundraiser for the needy at Adelphia Restaurant and Bar on Monday.

The event is a fundraiser to help Deptford residents in time of emergency,” said Mayor Paul Medany. “For example, if a family loses their home to fire, the fund can help them with temporary housing. And it’s used for other untimely events. All of the township council and our administration will be in attendance.”

The fundraiser is open to the public at a ticket price of $25, including beer, wine and appetizers.  Tickets can be purchased through the manager’s office at the township municipal building, at the recreation department or at the door the day of the event.

Adelphia Bar and Restaurant, a venue staple in Deptford for more than 30 years, is headed by the Balis family, also a fixture in town.

The Balis family … has been a fantastic partner in this event, and they are also a fantastic contributor to our community as a whole,” Medany noted.

On top of money raised from ticket sales, the event will also feature a basket auction. The prizes – according to the mayor – are all items donated by township businesses and are considered “a huge hit” among those who attend the event. This year’s Fund for Deptford Families fundraiser is the 10th for the township.

“This event is a great way to start the holiday season, by giving back to those in need,” Medany said.

Hours for the fundraiser are 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, check out the township website and Facebook page, both of which will include upcoming holiday and other events.
