‘Heroes’ ramp up fundraising with beef and beer

The township’s Hunter’s Heroes Foundation is again planning fundraising events after a COVID pause, starting with the first in person beef and beer in years on Nov. 11.

The foundation focuses on helping first responders further their careers, among other efforts. Its fundraising events help fund a scholarship program at Cinnaminson High School, as well as providing training and education materials and coordinating community outreach projects for the needy.

“Traditionally, we ran several (events) throughout the year, and we would definitely like to get back to doing that now that things are getting somewhat back to normal,” said foundation founder Claire Hunter.

“Just like everyone else, COVID-19 placed a huge strain on our ability to conduct or attend any events where we would normally receive donations.”

Hunter, the wife of former township fire Lt. Chris Hunter, has consistently fundraised over the years, with the beef and beer being the largest undertaking.

“Fundraising is extremely important,” she said. “Without it, we would be in really bad shape and financially not be able to exist. We rely heavily on our board members and many of our followers to get the word out and/or to help bring in donations.”

Hunter’s Heroes Foundation fundraising goes beyond planning events to also benefit the community.

“It’s important to know, just about all of the proceeds are used towards the objectives in which we fundraise for and/or giving back to the community,” Hunter explained. “Hunter’s Heroes also donates out to other local charities within Cinnaminson as well.”

The beef and beer will be held at The Venue in Lenola. Tickets can be bought either at huntersheroesfoundation.org or on the foundation’s Facebook page. Those who can’t attend can donate to Hunter’s Heroes through the website; other donations can be addressed to P.O.  Box 2893, Cinnaminson, 08077.
