Welcoming freshmen to Cinnaminson High School

Orientation will feature peer interaction and building tours

Cinnaminson High School’s freshmen orientation on Aug.30 will include a family barbecue.

Cinnaminson High School will host a special freshman orientation event for students and parents in the incoming Class of 2026 on Aug. 30.

Assistant Principal Kaitlin McCann believes the event will be beneficial for the freshman class of 240 students.

“Freshman orientation is an opportunity for our incoming freshmen to meet and interact with their peers,” she said, adding that the event will enable freshmen to  connect with other students in their grade, along with new faces they may not recognize.

“For those students who already know each other, this is an opportunity to interact with students they may not have seen over the summer and get excited to attend Cinnaminson High School,” McCann noted.

She said the event will make the new freshmen feel more comfortable once they enter high school, with building tours and meetings with teachers, counselors and administrators. Students will also get access to Google Classroom, which includes important information from class advisors.

“Students will receive their first piece of Cinnaminson High School swag, a Class of 2026 T-shirt,” McCann explained. “This is an added bonus of attending the orientation.”

The orientation will include evening events for both students and parents.  Orientation begins at 3 p.m, when freshmen will meet with class advisors and their peers while participating in various games and activities. At 5, there will be a   barbecue with foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Class advisors will then host an information session for parents and students at 5:30.

“They will have the opportunity to hear more of the specifics of the day-to-day life of a Cinnaminson High School student, learn about policies and procedures, and ask questions,” McCann said.

Cinnaminson High School’s Freshman Orientation event is a great way for students and parents to get acclimated before the first day of classes start on Sept. 6. Hopefully, it will make families feel more comfortable about the high school experience.

McCann is looking forward to seeing the new freshman class at the orientation event and officially welcoming them as students of Cinnaminson High on Sept. 6, when the school year begins.
