The Mullica Hill Business Association (MHBA) will again host its Cars on Main show on Sunday, Sept. 18, an event that began 15 years ago.
“It’s a very collective show and we’re open to everything from 1900 to 2022,” said George Murphy, MHBA president. “We try to base it around Wildwood’s (car show), which is huge.”
Murphy took over the event five years ago. He estimates there will be anywhere from 150 to 175 cars on Main Street, which will remain open the day of the show.
“In the past, we’ve had McClarens and Ferraris and we have had a couple of Jeep clubs,” he said. “We even had a minivan that was loaded with speakers.”
Car clubs and representatives of Mullica Hill – including Mayor Louis Manzo – will also attend the show, according to Murphy, who explained the setup.
“We try to spread it out,” he said of the show. “Some (cars) will be on North Main Street while others will be on South. It adds value to Main Street’s businesses.”
Murphy himself owns Time Fine Men’s Store, a retailer that sells men’s accessories and grooming products, and his wife owns the D-Signed for You home decor and furniture store.
A total of 26 trophies will be presented at the show to the best vehicles in several categories, including the best Ford and best antique car. To decide a winner, guests will get cards they can place on vehicles to make their choices, all of which will be counted toward the end of the event.
Cars on Main is $15 to register on ticketleap.com. Proceeds will help pay expenses for the show and also benefit American Legion Post 452 in Mullica Hill.
Show hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsors are Spirit Chrysler and J and J Mechanical Inc., a heating and air conditioning company.
