Burlington County hosts healthcare career fair

County’s second industry-specific career fair held this year

Residents interested in pursuing a career in health care will have the opportunity to connect with more than a dozen health care employers during an upcoming career fair.

The Burlington County Healthcare Hiring Fair will be held on June 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Burlington County Human Services Building, 795 Woodlane Road, Westampton. The event is being hosted by the Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Workforce Development Board to help residents find work in the health care industry. It is open to all residents 18 and older.

“Health care is essential and a rapidly growing industry because of our aging population. It’s critically important we help match people looking for jobs in the industry with providers who have open positions,” said Commissioner Felicia Hopson, the Board’s liaison to the County Department of Human Services and Workforce Development Board. “These employers are vital members of our Burlington County communities. They save lives, heal the sick and injured, and care for our friends and loved ones. Anyone with a passion for assisting people should come out and learn about the opportunities that exist now.”

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment in health care occupations is projected to grow 16 percent from 2020 to 2030, amounting to more than 2.6 million new jobs. The projected increase is greater than any other industry.

In New Jersey alone, nearly 65,000 new health care jobs are expected to be added, an annual increase of 1.2 percent, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The industry’s average annual wage in New Jersey was $65,793 in 2020, up from $52,320 in 2012.

The employers participating the June 22 career fair include Aveanna Healthcare, BAYADA Home Health Care, Care One- Evesham, Care One- Moorestown, Complete Care of Burlington Woods Center, FCI Fort Dix, Jefferson Health, Masonic Village, Oaks Integrated Care, RiteAid, Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, Stokes Pharmacy and the County of Burlington.

The Healthcare Hiring Fair is the second industry-specific career fair hosted by the Commissioners and Workforce Development Board this year. The first was held in March and featured employers from construction and utilities industries.

Burlington County’s estimated unemployment rate is now at 2.8 percent, which is the third lowest among New Jersey counties and the lowest mark since May 2019, when it was also estimated at 2.8 percent.

“The low Burlington County unemployment rate is a sign that our county’s economy continues to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we want to thank our Workforce Development Board for all they’ve done to help connect residents with available jobs and important training resources,” said Hopson. “Nobody is declaring victory yet and we know events like this Healthcare Hiring Fair will continue to be important, so we want to encourage residents interested in the health care field to mark their calendar.”
