Taxes likely to rise

By ROBERT LINNEHAN | The Haddonfield Sun

Residents will most likely be looking at a school district budget that contains a 2.53 percent increase in the tax year, as the Haddonfield Board of Education met for the last time before officially approving the 2010–11 budget on March 22.

The board faced a $1.4 million deficit in the 2010–2011 budget and cut out a little more than $600,000 in operating and programming costs to help bridge the gap. The Board of Education commissioned Superintendent Alan Fegley to present his own plan on March 22 on what he would suggest cutting to help erase the deficit.

The next board meeting will be held on Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the Haddonfield Memorial High School library.
