Mount Laurel resident hosting spring egg hunt for community

Attendees must wear masks, practice social distancing.

A spring egg hunt for children of all ages will be hosted on April 15 by Jacki Smoyer, a Mount Laurel resident and real estate agent.

Smoyer has planned the egg hunt since she was raising her children, and the event has grown with each passing year. She stepped away from it for a while, but decided to bring it back to benefit the community she’s lived in for years.

“This time it was for the community, not just my neighborhood,” Smoyer noted. “I have been hosting the egg hunt now for nine years. The event is held rain or shine — some years it has been freezing, while other years it’s been hot and sunny.”

Once she has an idea of how many children will attend, Smoyer starts filling the eggs  herself.

“The first few egg hunts had about 30 children attending,” she recalled. “Now we are well over 65 kids and 60 adults. It’s a great time for everyone and a perfect way to start celebrating spring.”

This year’s hunt will take place on the bike path at Sorrell Run, in the Bridlewood neighborhood of Mount Laurel. Children are required to bring their own baskets for  collecting eggs. Face masks and social distancing will be required for both parents and kids.

An Easter bunny will be on hand for pictures and children should arrive prior to the egg hunt start time of 11 a.m. Attendees should RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling (856) 296-7226.
