Ramos, who lives in Cherry Hill, works at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The son of one of his patients nominated him for this award, citing his compassion and ability to connect with his mother. The patient’s son also appreciated Ramos keeping him informed and explaining medial terms to him.

A resident of Philadelphia, Gudin works at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital’s C5 Unit. An 81-year-old patient nominated Gudin for making her feel safe, providing encouragement during her recovery and listening to all of her concerns.

The MS-3 Clinical Team became the primary COVID Unit at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital during the pandemic. Led by a new Nurse Manager and a new Clinical Coordinator, this team developed processes and systems that improved patient care. The Patient Care Technicians and the Unit Secretaries also played a vital role during the COVID-19 crisis. The unit was recognized by Tipton Health Communications -– the nation’s premier nursing consulting agency — for “Stories from the Front Lines of the Pandemic.”

DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, visitors, family members, nurses, physicians, and other colleagues. Part of an international program, DAISY awards are bestowed to nurses who make a profound difference in the lives of patients and patients’ families.

The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique way of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families.
