Deptford Mall’s Kid’s Mini Theater joined schools and libraries nationwide to celebrate the author’s birthday with its Dr. Seuss Birthday Extravaganza on March 2.
Located in the JCPenney wing on the mall’s lower level, the theater hosted three sold-out shows where kids had the opportunity to meet the title character of “Cat in the Hat.”
“This free theatrical event offers preschool-age children (the opportunity) to enjoy interactive story time, singing, dancing, fun giveaways and a special meet and greet with the character,” said Deptford Mall’s Senior Marketing Manager Lori L. Belsito.
The theater hosts three showtimes a month, with pre-registration required due to the limited amount of seats available.
“Deptford Mall’s Kid’s Mini Theater opened in March 2021 and truly has been a huge success,” Belsito said. “In-person, family friendly (events) are offered monthly and feature famous characters from children’s storybooks, such as Pete the Cat, Paddington Bear and Curious George.”
The next show at the Kid’s Mini Theater’s is Thursday, March 24, and will feature the title character from the Deborah Diesen book “The Pout-Pout Fish.’’
“He once was a very unhappy fish, because he believed that he could only frown and bring gloom to everyone around him,” Belsito explained, noting that the book’s goal is to spread happiness. “As he swims around the ocean, many creatures try to give him the advice to smile and be happy.”
Registration for this event is now open, and families can sign up at deptfordmall.com under the events section.
