RCSJ offers cannabis education and job training course

Cost for the virtual course is $500, with limited tuition waiver vouchers available for veterans.

Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) offers a five-session virtual medical cannabis dispensary education and training course, March 14 through March 28, via Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost for the virtual course is $500, with limited tuition waiver vouchers available for veterans. Please note that while students must be at least 18 years old to register for the course, most employers require employees to be 21 and pass a background check.

Tailored to New Jersey’s Medical Marijuana program, the 15-hour series of training topics — provided in partnership with New Jersey Cannabis Certified — includes cannabis law and regulations, cultivation basics, manufactured products, testing, dosing and administration, and working in a dispensary.

The series also touches on the history of cannabis, the human body’s endocannabinoid system, cannabis taxonomy and terminology, and how to assist medical marijuana program patients with qualifying conditions.

“Rowan College of South Jersey continues to identify in-demand training to prepare individuals for employment in emerging industries. This course provides the foundational knowledge needed for employment opportunities in the cannabis industry,” said Brigette Satchell, dean of Career and Technical Education.

“We are excited to partner with existing operators in the State that bring expertise to our programming and allow students a direct connection to jobs,” said Sarah Trent, founder of New Jersey Cannabis Certified.
