Gloucester County Commissioner Dan Christy resigns

Christy has been an active member of the Board of Commissioners since 2014

Dan Christy resigns from his role as a Gloucester County commissioner on Jan. 26, effective immediately.

On Jan. 26, Director Frank J. DiMarco announced the resignation of Commissioner Dan Christy. DiMarco stated the following:

Gloucester County Commissioner Dan Christy has been an active member of the Board of Commissioners since 2014.

During his three terms, Commissioner Christy advocated for veterans’ services as liaison to the Office of Veterans Affairs, constantly working to provide the best services for those who risked their lives for our freedoms.

Commissioner Christy also served as the liaison to the Department of Emergency Response and EMS where he oversaw many additions of municipal EMS systems into the Gloucester County EMS (GCEMS) and the successful management of emergencies like: the 2015 straight-line winds, COVID-19 pandemic and vaccinations and the 2021 F3 tornado.

Previously, Commissioner Christy served as the liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter where he played a lead role in passing a Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) resolution and other lifesaving efforts at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter. He also established the Donor Wall in the shelter and the building of the Animal Control Office/Triage facility.

Commissioner Christy has been employed as a Business Representative for the Carpenters Union in southern N.J. and was recently promoted to the position of Eastern District Representative for the International United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Due to the recent increase in responsibilities to the Carpenter’s International Union, his new assignments will require significant time away from Gloucester County and his responsibilities as a Gloucester County Commissioner.

Commissioner Christy, recognizing that this would prohibit him from continuing the level of service the taxpayers need and deserve, has nobly tendered his resignation.
