Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity will break ground on two affordable homes at 409 Deptford Ave. in Woodbury on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. Both homes will be available for purchase to families in Habitat’s Homeownership Program.
Joining Habitat Executive Director Tony Isabella to share remarks at this groundbreaking ceremony are Board President Ronda Abbruzzese, Woodbury Mayor Peg Sickel, Commissioner Deputy Director Heather Simmons, along with other local and county officials and the First Harvest Federal Credit Union – who will hold the 0% equivalent mortgages.
“The 2 homes on Deptford Ave. mark a kickoff to an exciting 2022 for both for Habitat’s work and for the City of Woodbury,” said Isabella. “We are engaged in a number of powerful partnerships that made the arrival of this moment possible, and we are proud to build alongside our neighbors in Woodbury.”
As part of Habitat for Humanity’s programs, homeowners become vested in their property by completing 350 hours of sweat equity in place of a down payment. The new homeowners are also required to demonstrate a housing need and that they have the financial wellbeing to repay an affordable mortgage.
