Medford Education Foundation hosts Dine & Shop Nov. 18

Restaurants and shops have pledged to donate a percentage of their sales from that day to the MEF

Medford Education Foundation will host a Dine & Shop for Education event Nov. 18. The day will be designated a “Homework Holiday.”

On Thursday, November 18, 2021, the Medford Education Foundation is hosting its Dine & Shop for Education event. Area restaurants and shops have pledged to donate a percentage of their sales from that day to the MEF.  The MEF encourages all parents and residents to visit these shops and restaurants on this day as this is one of the foundation’s largest fundraisers.

The Medford Township School District has designated that day to be a “Homework Holiday” ensuring that students and their parents will not need to worry about homework that evening in the hopes that they will have the time to shop and dine out.  Restaurants also include take out options in calculating their donation.

In addition to the opportunity for an evening out of dining and shopping, 3DPT is welcoming local traffic anchor Bob Kelly. He will be hosting a Toy Drive at the Medford Community Center for his charity, Kelly’s Kidz.  ShopRite of Medford is sponsoring a friendly competition between the schools for participation.  The school with the highest participation in the event will win $500

The participating restaurants are: Braddocks, Dory’s Mediterranean Grill, Femmina Italian Grill, Ginger, Illiano Cucina, Kings Road Brewery, La Bella Pizza, Lower Forge Brewery, Medford Bagel, Otts, The Pop Shop, Riviera Pizza Medford Lakes, Roast Coffee, Tigas, and Zinc Cafe.  Participating Retail Shops are: Girlfriends on Main, La Faccia Bella, Mystical Blossoms, Medford Company Store, and Wonder World Toys.

The Medford Education Foundation is a non-profit 501 ( C) (3) entity composed of parents, business owners and educators who work to raise money in support of the Medford Township Public Schools.   Since 2004,  the Medford Education Foundation has raised over $555, 000.00  for the benefit of the public schools and students for things such as mobile laptop laboratories,  technology upgrades and the purchase of  independent reading books. Funds raised by the Medford Education Foundation are also used for the Foundation’s Education Grant Program which supports teachers and encourages creativity in the classroom for the benefit of Medford’s  K-8 students by  providing resources for extraordinary educational experiences such as hands-on classroom projects, field trips, art, music and drama programs, enhanced STEM education, guest speakers, assemblies and access to technology.

“We look forward to presenting more events like this one”, said Renee Zallie, chairperson of the event.  “By sponsoring family-friendly activities like this, it is our goal not only to raise funds for the benefit of the Medford Township Public schools, but also to foster community spirit within Medford Township”. The Medford Township Public School District serves over 2500 students in grades K-8.  Anyone seeking more information about the Medford Education Foundation  and ways to support its mission is encouraged to contact the Foundation at [email protected] or at 609-975-9614.
