The Commissioner Board’s Department of Public Works will conduct roadway improvements on Evesham Road (CR 544) through the municipalities of Magnolia, Lawnside, Somerdale, Cherry Hill Township and Voorhees Township. The 1.1-mile project starts at the intersection of King Street east of the White Horse Pike and extends 500 feet past the intersection of Evesham and Burnt Mill Roads.

“Improving our roadway infrastructure while increasing safety is one of the best investments we can make in our county,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works.  “Please use caution any time you are driving through a construction area and be aware of temporary directional signs or construction personnel.”

When completed, the $2.4 million project will include the reconstruction of the roadway, the installation of handicap accessible ramps, concrete curbs, and new driveway aprons. Through a shared services agreement with Cherry Hill Township, the traffic signal and pedestrian signal equipment at the intersection of Evesham and Burnt Mill Roads will be fully upgraded.

The project is slated to start on Wednesday, Nov. 3, and be completed by early summer 2022, with work pausing for several months in the winter. The exact timing of the project is dependent upon weather and other factors.

The Camden County Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining over 1,200 miles of county roadway and 50 bridges.  They are dedicated to making our area safer for motorists and pedestrians through county highway construction projects and road maintenance, including pothole repairs, street sweeping, grass cutting and storm drainage upkeep. The Public Works Department is located in Lindenwold where personnel are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to serve the residents of Camden County.
