Larry Robb is now the acting police chief for Cherry Hill Township, a move announced via passage of a resolution during township council’s Oct. 12 open public meeting.

On an interim basis Capt. Robb succeeds William “Bud” Monaghan, who officially retired at the end of September following 26 years with the department and nearly eight years as the township’s top cop.

“A big congratulations to Capt. Larry Robb. Well deserved,” said Councilman William Carter.

According to the township administration, the search for a permanent replacement is ongoing and is being discussed on a regular basis.

Right off the bat, Robb faces the ongoing investigation by his department as well as the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office into an incident where eight shots were fired in the neighborhood surrounding Cherry Hill High School West during a football game on the evening of Oct. 1.

During her customary remarks at the meeting, Mayor Susan Shin Angulo struck a more upbeat note. She revealed that, according to the latest state data, 71 percent of Cherry Hill residents and 83 percent of adults (18 and over) are fully vaccinated.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for doing your part to protect not only yourself, but the overall health of your family members, friends and neighbors as well,” she said. “Please continue to stay safe.”
