Obituary: Joyce Pierce Kern

Longtime parishioner of Christ the King, who loved this area as well as Sanibel Island, died last week.

Joyce Kern of Haddonfield, formerly of Atlantic City, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 14 at the age of 86.

She was the Loving wife of the late James, devoted mother of Karen A. Kern (Albert V. Pescatore) of Haddonfield, James P. Kern (Laurie) of El Cajon, Calif., and Lisa J. Lanciano (Nicholas) of Gibbsboro; cherished grandmother of Allison Pescatore Tenny (Christopher), great-grandmother of Eloise K. Tenny and dear cousin of Michele Crean Tedesco (Frank) of Haddonfield.

Joyce was a longtime Haddonfield resident and member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church.  She worked as Director Of Administration at John Maneely Co. in Collingswood for 20 years.

For the past six years, Joyce was a resident of Brandywine Senior Living in Haddonfield where she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and engaging with the other residents. Joyce was an avid reader and enjoyed the beach, gardening, cooking and working on crossword puzzles. She also loved Sanibel Island, Fla. and for over 15 years, spent two months out of the year there shelling and taking in flora and fauna. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joyce’s family was to greet friends on July 21 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Avenue. Her Funeral Service was to follow at 11 a.m. Interment at Colestown Cemetery was to be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Haddonfield Foundation, P.O. Box 555, Haddonfield, N.J. 08033 or via www.haddonfieldfoundation.org.
