Decor business to host garden tour that benefits animal rescue

Proceeds go to a different charity each year

Every year, Farm House Design Home Decor in Mullica Hill hosts a taste of tea and garden tour and chooses a different animal charity for donations.

During the 4th annual tour on Saturday, June 19, the business will donate proceeds to One Love Animal Rescue, a nonprofit that thrives on nursing abused animals back to health.

“I want to thank Jeff Downs for donating his time and his yard and the effort that he puts into it,” said Farm House Design owner Hazel Dilsaver.

Downs is a lawyer in Mullica Hill who donates his two acre yard each year. He wanted to start a charity event in town, so he contacted Dilsaver.

Dilsaver had a vision for her business over 30 years ago. She had a knack for decorating and making things around the house and needed an outlet. She currently sells reimagined antiques, including furniture, linens, and decor.

“I enjoy talking to people and I also enjoy decorating, so it seemed like a good fit together,” she said.

Dilsaver makes the reefs and displays for the yearly tour.

After enjoying the spicer’s house garden tour at Downs Esquire, participants can enjoy a taste of tea at Mademoiselle’s Macaron, listen to live music, and enjoy local vendors at Farm House Design’s Main Street location.

Flossy’s Boutique, which specializes in fashion and giftware, is another local business that is getting involved with its fashion floral sculptures.

“I just hope people come and have a great time because it is a beautiful place where you can just relax and take pictures,”  Dilsaver noted. “People can see different types of flowers and foliage.”

She hosts three or four events a year and also owns Mullica Hill Events LLC, with charitable donations from ticketed sales.

Downs got praise from Dilsaver for keeping up his garden.

“It literally looks like it belongs in a magazine, and when you go back there, it’s like you’re someplace else,” she said. “You’re no longer in Mullica Hill; it’s like you’re in an estate somewhere down south.”

The tour will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. and tickets are available for $15 at www.ticketleap.com. The rain date is Saturday, June 26. The garden opens at 3 p.m.

Upcoming events include a farmhouse festival during Harrison Township Day starting on June 4, and a Mullica Hill fall festival on Oct. 9 and 10.
