CamCo announces five new deaths and 551 new confirmed cases between April 17 and April 19

Today marks the first day that anyone over the age of 16 can get vaccinated in New Jersey.

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing five new deaths caused by COVID-19, as well as 551 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed between Saturday, April 17, and Monday, April 19. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 46,280 in Camden County today and 1,155 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 1: MALE, 80s, BARRINGTON BOROUGH
New Case 2: FEMALE, 60s, LINDENWOLD BOROUGH
New Case 3: MALE, 70s, MERCHANTVILLE BOROUGH
New Case 4: MALE, 70s, CHESILHURST BOROUGH
New Case 5: FEMALE, 80s, HADDON HEIGHTS

 

“With a heavy heart we are announcing the tragic passing of five additional Camden County residents due to COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all the victims and their families,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Today, the state officially expanded eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to everyone over the age of 16. It is critically important that everyone get vaccinated so we can begin to move forward and put this pandemic behind us. If you do not already have an appointment, now is the time to make one.”

The Department of Health is announcing 551 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

To date, 355,398 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 215,729 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 155,883 people who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,373 confirmed resident cases and 1,377 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 46,280 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 466 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,155 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
